This is the kind of post that lands in your plan, here for Instagram.
Myth: A packed itinerary means good value. Fact: A packed itinerary usually means long transfers and short stops. Eleven places in seven days sounds generous until you count the hours on a bus. Value is time actually spent at places, not names on a list. Count the transfer hours in any itinerary before you count the destinations.
Photo brief. Split card. Left, an itinerary with eleven stops and the transfer hours written beside each. Right, the same week with four stops. Plain typographic, no stock travel photography.
Myths your customers believe
Posts that correct a myth earn trust. Your plan includes them, with your business name attached.
Myth. Booking directly is always cheaper than using an agent
Fact. Sometimes it is. What direct booking does not give you is somebody who answers the phone when a flight is cancelled at two in the morning in a country whose language you do not speak.
Myth. A packed itinerary means good value
Fact. A packed itinerary usually means long transfers and short stops. Value is measured in time actually spent at places, not in the number of names on the list.
Myth. Travel insurance is an unnecessary add-on
Fact. A single medical episode abroad can cost more than the entire trip. It is also mandatory for several visa categories, so the choice is often not really a choice.
Myth. The best time to visit is when the photographs were taken
Fact. Those photographs were taken in the best week of the best month. Ask specifically about weather, crowds and what is closed in the month you are actually travelling.
How to compare two holiday quotes properly
- Line up the inclusions and exclusions side by side, not the totals
- Check the hotel category and the actual property name, not just the star rating
- Count the hours of transfer in the itinerary, not the number of places
Questions your customers ask
What exactly is included in the package price?
You should receive a written inclusions and exclusions list covering flights, transfers, meals, entry tickets, taxes and guide charges. Anything not on that list is not in the price, and we say so explicitly.
When should I book for peak season?
Earlier than feels necessary. For popular destinations in Indian holiday periods, the constraint is rarely flights; it is the good hotels and the trains.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, and for several visa categories it is compulsory. Check the medical cover limit and whether pre-existing conditions are excluded, because that is where the policies differ.
What happens if a flight is cancelled or delayed?
You get a number that is answered, and we handle rebooking and hotel arrangements. Ask any agent what their process is before you book, not after.
Can the itinerary be changed to suit older travellers or children?
Yes, and it should be. Fewer stops, later starts and shorter transfers usually make a trip better rather than worse, whatever the brochure suggests.
How much cash should I carry and in what form?
A mix of a forex card and a small amount of local currency works for most destinations. Carrying everything in cash is the single most common regret.
Will you handle the visa?
We prepare and file the application and tell you what is required. The decision is the consulate's, and nobody can promise an outcome.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellation terms are given in writing before payment, with the specific dates and percentages. Ask for them at quotation stage rather than at cancellation stage.
