A SahiPost poster for TV advertising agencies and ad film makers, made from the post "Myth: TV is only for big national brands.", with the business name, phone number and logo along the bottom
The poster SahiPost made for this post.

Myth: TV is only for big national brands. Fact: Regional channels and local cable put city and state businesses on screen too. Plan for fewer markets, the right channels and the shows your customers watch. TV can be local.

Myths your customers believe

Posts that correct a myth earn trust. Your plan includes them, with your business name attached.

Myth. TV is only for big national brands

Fact. Regional channels and local cable let city and state-level businesses reach their own audience on TV, with budgets planned around fewer markets.

Myth. A beautiful ad film is a successful one

Fact. An ad succeeds when people remember the brand and act. Beautiful visuals with a forgettable brand moment are an expensive short film.

Myth. Prime time is always the best slot

Fact. The best slot is when your customers watch. For some products that is prime time; for others, morning news or afternoon serials work better.

Myth. One ad film works for every channel and platform

Fact. TV, YouTube and Instagram need different lengths and openings. Planning cut-downs during the shoot saves money.

How to brief an ad film

  1. State the one thing viewers should remember
  2. Describe the audience and where they will see it
  3. Share the budget range and the formats you need

Questions your customers ask

What does it cost to make a TV commercial?

It varies with script, cast, locations and crew. We start with your budget and suggest a script that fits it, rather than the other way round.

Should we choose national, regional or cable TV?

Choose the channels your customers watch in the markets you serve. Many local businesses do well with regional and cable channels.

How long should our ad be?

Common lengths are 10, 20 and 30 seconds. A 30-second master with shorter cut-downs gives flexibility for TV and digital.

Can the same film run on YouTube and Instagram?

Yes, with edits. Digital versions need a faster opening and vertical or square formats. We plan these during the shoot.

Do TV ads need any approvals?

Ads must follow the ASCI code and the advertising code under cable TV rules. Some product categories have extra restrictions.

How do we know the ads aired?

Channels provide telecast certificates showing when the ad ran. We share these with you after the campaign.
